On Thursday, the Mexican Navy said it had lost contact with two ships that departed Mexico a week earlier and were due to arrive in Cuba earlier this week, and that a search operation had been launched.
But the US Coast Guard, which was not involved in the search, announced in the afternoon local time in Sweden that the two ships had arrived at a Cuban port.
Since last week, several ships have left Mexican ports aiming to transport food and other supplies to Cuba, which is facing a humanitarian crisis and is under an oil blockade by the United States.
