US bond yields hit highest level since 2002, Wall Street falls

The yield on the 30-year U.S. Treasury bond rose above 5.61 percent on Tuesday, the highest level since 2002, according to Bloomberg News. At the close, the yield was 5.59 percent.

The broad-based S&P 500 index fell 0.2 percent, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.3 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index lost 0.1 percent.

This is the second day in a row of declines on the U.S. stock market.
