The military command Southcom announced on X that several people were taken into custody and will be handed over to Ecuadorian authorities before the boat was blown up.
The US has carried out repeated attacks on alleged smuggling boats in the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean since September last year. More than 200 people have been reported killed since then. More recently, it has also targeted “floating fuel stations” by seizing crews and then sinking the boats.
