The military claims to have blocked all seaborne trade to and from Iranian ports after less than 36 hours of the blockade.
The military has previously stated that over 10,000 sailors and marines are participating in the blockade operation, which is targeting trade in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
"The blockade of Iranian ports has been fully implemented while US forces maintain maritime superiority in the Middle East," CENTCOM writes.
Already on Tuesday evening, local time in Sweden, the US military claimed that "no ships had passed the American blockade" during the first 24 hours of the operation.
