A woman and her daughter - relatives of Soleimani - were taken into custody by federal police in the United States on Friday, according to the US State Department.
In connection with their detention, their permanent residence permits have also been revoked following a decision by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The women are now to be deported and the older one is described by the Foreign Ministry as "an outspoken supporter of the totalitarian terrorist regime in Iran."
Qassem Soleimani, who led the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force, was killed in a drone strike at Baghdad airport on the orders of President Donald Trump on January 3, 2020.
