US approves nearly $2 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia

The US State Department has approved an arms sale to Saudi Arabia worth almost SEK 19 billion.

"The proposed transaction will support United States foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening the security of a key non-NATO ally," the State Department wrote in a statement.

Saudi Arabia is also said to contribute to both political stability and economic development in the region.

The deal is estimated to be worth almost two billion dollars.
