The US government has formally notified Congress that it is ready to approve a sale of weapons for "50 million dollars or more" to Ukraine.

The message was registered on April 29, according to Congress's website. It is the first time that President Donald Trump's current government is preparing an arms sale to Ukraine.

After the so-called mineral agreement was signed on Wednesday, it is also another sign of improved relations between Washington and Kyiv.

It concerns a direct sale where the Foreign Ministry gives an American company permission to sell directly to another country without the deal going through the Pentagon, writes Newsweek.

What weapons and how much it concerns is not disclosed.
