US Approves $1 Billion Arms Deal With United Arab Emirates, Including Robot Control Systems

The United States approves a $1 billion arms deal, equivalent to more than 10 billion kronor (about $950 million), with the United Arab Emirates.

The deal includes up to 10,000 precision control systems for robots.

"The proposed deal will enhance the United Arab Emirates' ability to meet current and future threats," the US State Department said in a press release.

"It will strengthen U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by improving the security of a key defense partner," the press release continued.

The United Arab Emirates, like several other US-allied Gulf states, has been hit hard by missile and drone attacks from Iran during the Iran-Iraq War.
