Previously, the country has pledged $500,000 in aid following the disaster that hit Nepal and Tibet.

More than 690 people have lost their lives, and nearly 3,000 people are still missing.

According to experts, the sequence of events appears to have started with an ice avalanche on a melting glacier. It was followed by a giant grey-brown flood of water and mud that flowed down the valleys at high speed.
