"This step will facilitate our joint efforts to promote stability, support economic reconstruction, and advance political reconciliation in Venezuela," the department said in a statement.
Since Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was targeted by the United States in January, interim President Delcy Rodríguez has ruled the country.
The Venezuelan government "confirms its will to move forward to a new phase of constructive dialogue, based on mutual respect, the sovereign equality of states and cooperation between our citizens," it said in a statement, according to AFP.
