The meeting is taking place, according to reports, in connection with this week's NATO meeting in Brussels, which is being held from Thursday to Friday.
This will be the first top-level, face-to-face meeting since the US President Donald Trump claimed that he would "take control" of the autonomous Danish island of Greenland.
Due to the extremely tense situation between the countries, it is not certain that the meeting will take place, emphasized the newspaper's sources. Currently, the diplomatic relations between Washington and Copenhagen are almost non-existent, they report.
In parallel, Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is visiting Greenland – a trip that takes place only days after the US Vice President JD Vance made a controversial lightning visit to the island. Vance then claimed that it would be best for Greenland to be "incorporated under the US security umbrella".
The governments of Greenland and Denmark have repeatedly stated that the island is not for sale.
