US and China extend trade war truce until January

The agreement originally had an end date of November 10.

It will be extended until January 10 to give us more time to see what we can do on the economic front, Bessent told Fox News.

The announcement comes just an hour after Chinese President Xi Jinping landed in Washington to meet his American counterpart Donald Trump.

Earlier this week, Bessent met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng to talk about trade, among other things, in a meeting that was described as “very successful.”
