"It would be good if they took it all," said Ambassador Mike Huckabee on conservative media personality Tucker Carlson's podcast on Friday.
The comment came in response to Carlson's question about a biblical verse that is often interpreted as saying that Israel has the right to everything between the Nile in Egypt and the Euphrates in Syria and Iraq.
Huckabee added that Israel does not intend to "take all of it," but the criticism has not been long in coming. On Sunday, about a dozen Arab and Islamic governments will release a joint statement in which they claim that the ambassador’s comments are dangerous and inflammatory.
Huckabee's remarks also contradict the UN Charter and attempts to reach a long-term peace solution in Gaza, according to the statement.
