The three leading indexes on the New York Stock Exchange closed on a plus on Wednesday, where S&P 500 had its best stock market day in five months. The industrial average Dow Jones ended at 0.2 percent and S&P 500 at 1.6 percent. Nasdaq's composite index finished at 2.6 percent.
Among the winners was the semiconductor giant Nvidia, which rose 12.8 percent. Vistra Corp, in the energy sector, ended at a plus of 14.9 percent.
Among the losers were the health insurance company Humana, down 10.6 percent, and Verics Analytics, which fell back 8.5 percent.
During the day, the US central bank Federal Reserve announced the expected decision to leave the interest rate unchanged, in the range of 5.25–5.50 percent.
