"Preliminarily, construction of a total of approximately 6,800 residential apartments began during the first quarter of 2026. This is 4 percent more than in the first quarter of 2025," writes Statistics Sweden.
The trend is upward in apartment buildings, with a 14 percent increase. However, there is a sharp downward trend in the construction of villas.
"Small house construction has decreased: 1,050 residential apartments in small houses were started during the quarter, which is 26 percent fewer than in the same period in 2025," writes Statistics Sweden.
