The municipal auditors directed harsh criticism towards the elderly care committee in Uppsala following the rape scandal. Last week, the opposition members resigned, and now the board is also resigning, reports UNT.
The announcement means that all members of the committee have announced their resignation.
"I hope that our resignation leads to even more attention being directed towards how the municipality should act in the future to develop our elderly care," says Hilde Klasson (S) in a press release.
It was in November last year that several elderly women came forward in UNT and told of being subjected to rapes and other assaults by home care staff. The newspaper could also reveal significant shortcomings in the municipality's handling of the rape allegations.
