The man was fired in 2024 after a woman accused him of rape and the municipality conducted an initial investigation. But he was never charged because there was a lack of technical evidence, Upsala Nya Tidning reports.
The man then sought damages and argued that the municipality had no right to fire him because he had not been convicted. When the municipality refused to pay, he went to court.
Now the district court has ruled that "it is beyond reasonable doubt" that the man subjected the woman to rape and other sexual assault, the newspaper writes.
He was ordered to pay SEK 450,000 in legal costs.
