Stock markets in Asia are rising, following in the footsteps of the New York Stock Exchange's rise from Wednesday evening, where technology companies accounted for a significant part of the rise.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index is up 1.0 percent. Among the winners today is Softbank, which was up more than 5 percent earlier in the trading day. Earlier in November, the technology-heavy investment company collapsed after it announced that it had sold its entire holding in American chip giant Nvidia.

The broader Topix is up 0.3.

South Korea's Kospi is up 0.6 percent, while Shanghai is up 0.5 percent. Shenzhen is also up 0.4 percent.

The Hang Seng in Hong Kong climbs 0.3 percent.
