Japan's Nikkei 225 index is up 1.0 percent, while the broader Topix climbs 1.7.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1.3 percent. Shenzhen gained 0.6 percent while the Shanghai Composite Index was trading flat.
South Korea's Kospi is up 0.7 percent.
