South Korea's Kospi has had a strong month, gaining just over 16 percent. Monday's trading appears to continue in the same direction, with the index up 0.5 percent at lunchtime.
Meanwhile, tech giant Samsung has climbed more than 26 percent in the same month. On Monday morning, the stock rose by about 0.8 percent.
The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is also starting the week on a positive note. By lunchtime, the index had risen by a whopping 2.2 percent.
The stock exchanges in Shenzhen and Shanghai, China, remain closed due to the holiday. The Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan is also closed.
