At least eight people have been found dead in the Norrbotten mountains so far this year, reports NSD. Most recently, a German man died over the weekend when he fell from a height in Kårsavagge near Abisko.

There have been more accidents than usual in the entire mountain range and the Kiruna mountains stand out, according to Per-Olov Wikberg of the Mountain Safety Council.

There are a lot of international guests there, the most in the entire mountain range. It is also from Kebnekaise that most mountain rescue alarms come.
