A municipal investigation has shown that children between three and five years old have regularly been punished if, for example, they have been naughty, quarreled or failed to take off their outerwear.
The punishment could have been going without food, not being comforted, being left alone in the dining room or having to sit in a special place to be ashamed. According to the newspaper Smålänningen, parents have testified that there was a place in the preschool yard where the children were allowed to fight, and where strangulations occurred.
