Israeli demonstrators broken into the UN agency UNRWA's facility in East Jerusalem, reports AP with reference to the organization.

Roland Friedrich, coordinator for UNRWA's work on the Palestinian West Bank, says that a dozen Israeli demonstrators broke into the facility with violence. Among the activists is a member of parliament, according to Friedrich.

UNRWA is the UN's aid agency for Palestinian refugees, an organization that evokes strong emotions in Israel. Israel has long claimed that UNRWA has been infiltrated by extremists from Hamas, with allegations that a significant part of the approximately 13,000 employees in Gaza have had such ties.

The allegations have intensified during the ongoing Gaza war. The UN has investigated them and found that nine employees may have been involved in terrorist-stamped Hamas attacks against Israel, which triggered the war. The nine were dismissed.
