UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini condemns the operation, saying it sets "a dangerous precedent."
“This latest action represents a blatant disregard for Israel’s obligation as a UN member state to protect and respect the inviolability of UN premises,” he writes on X.
Unrwa is the UN organization for Palestinian refugees and was banned from operating in Israel last year.
Trucks and forklifts were used in the raid to remove furniture and IT equipment, among other things, according to Lazzarini, who himself has been declared persona non grata by Israel.
The police tell the AFP news agency that it is a debt seizure related to local taxes.
This is dismissed by Unrwa, which states that as a UN agency, it does not have to pay that type of tax.
The office has been empty of staff since January.
