Lebanese state media reports that one person has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern part of the country, the first reported death since the peace talks were announced.
The Iran-allied Shiite militia Hezbollah has responded to the advances by firing rockets and drones to try to stop Israeli forces near the village of Kfar Tebnit, close to the city of Nabatieh.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces will remain in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza "for as long as necessary."
