The woman works as an economist at a real estate company in Stockholm and was reportedly recorded on both video and audio, the newspaper Kollega reports.
In March, the woman, who had worked at the company for ten years, discovered that the workplace’s camera system had stored 1,208 video and audio files. The recordings include conversations with her employer, tenants and suppliers, as well as private conversations.
The employer admits that the camera equipment was in place, but claims the recordings were caused by a technical error and that the purpose was not to monitor the woman.
The Union believes the company violated EU data protection regulations and seriously infringed on the woman’s personal integrity.
