"He probably entered yesterday for some purpose that we assume was not entirely legal. And then he stopped for some reason," says Operations Chief Eirik Sannes in the Oslo Police District.
The man, a German citizen in his 30s, is known to police. While he was in the container, employees moved other containers nearby without knowing that someone was in one of them. His way out was then blocked.
Police believe the man may have been trying to steal something and had been inside the container for a while.
The container was not addressed to Germany, so he was not going home, says Eirik Sannes.
The police had to move six to seven containers to allow the man to get out. He was then turned away from the area.
