Sales, adjusted for items affecting comparability, increased by 0.8 percent, compared with analysts' average forecast of minus 0.3 percent.
Adjusted operating income rose to $5.4 billion. The average forecast was $5.3 billion.
In total, the group delivered 13.6 billion liters of beverages during the quarter, which brought in $15.3 billion in revenue. Analysts had expected $14.8 billion.
