A little more than 360,000 people, or 6.8 percent of the workforce, were registered as unemployed at the country's employment agencies at the end of February.

In terms of trend, it was the lowest figure since the end of 2023, according to the Swedish Public Employment Service. However, the number of job losses has increased slightly in recent months, according to trend figures. The war in Iran has increased uncertainty, so the decline in unemployment may now come to an end.

"How the labor market will react to possible consequences is important to monitor going forward," says Eva Samakovlis, Director of Analysis at the Swedish Public Employment Service, in a press release.
