Smoke divers took the man out of the residence. He was taken unconscious to the hospital and died of his injuries, according to the police on their website.
Three more people were inside the building, but got out on their own after a passerby raised the alarm and made them aware of the fire.
It is a freestanding building used as a residence next to a school. The incident is being investigated as reckless endangerment and causing another person's death.
The alarm came in at 17.38 and the fire was extinguished about an hour later.
