The British diplomat Fletcher, who has long emphasized the need for aid to reach the inhabitants of Gaza, again sharpened the tone against Israel on Wednesday.
The UN Under-Secretary-General said in an interview with the news agency AFP that Israel must accelerate the opening of border crossings as part of the peace agreement.
It must happen now. We demand that it happens immediately as part of the agreement, said Fletcher with reference to the agreement between Israel and the terrorist-stamped Hamas in Gaza.
Fletcher is expected to visit the vulnerable border crossing Rafah, between Gaza and Egypt, on Thursday.
The border crossing has been closed for months.
