The UN Security Council will hold a "crisis meeting" on Monday to discuss the Russian violation of Estonia's airspace, according to the country's Foreign Ministry.

It was on Friday that three Russian fighter jets of the type Mig-31 flew over the Gulf of Finland and violated Estonian airspace for twelve minutes. Russia denies the violation.

"Nato responded (to the violation) immediately and prevented the Russian aircraft”, wrote Nato's spokesperson Allison Hart on X the same day.

Nato country Estonia also wants to convene Nato's member countries according to article 4, which states that members shall consult urgently when a member country feels threatened.
