The UN Security Council is calling for an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

This follows Russia's large-scale attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Friday night, including a hypersonic missile that knocked out power to thousands of apartment buildings. At least four people were killed and 25 injured in the attack.

"Russia has reached a terrifying new level of war crimes and crimes against humanity through its terror against civilians and civilian infrastructure," Ukraine's envoy, Andriy Melnyk, wrote in a letter to the Security Council seen by AFP.
