Each state must immediately review and sever all ties with the state of Israel, said Francesca Albanese at the beginning of the so-called Hague group's conference in Colombia.
The Israeli economy is structured to maintain the occupation that has now become genocide, she continued.
The Hague group's eight members – South Africa, Colombia, Bolivia, Cuba, Honduras, Senegal, Malaysia and Namibia – are seeking during the conference support from about 30 invited countries to exert pressure on Israel.
The purpose of the meeting has been to come up with measures that the participating countries can take in line with a motion from the UN General Assembly, with the ultimate goal of getting Israel to end its illegal occupation of the Palestinian areas.
Albanese has herself been sanctioned by the US for her outspoken criticism of Israel's warfare in Gaza. The UN rapporteur has several times claimed that Israel's actions can be defined as genocide. She has also directed criticism at US President Donald Trump's policy.
