Since Israel's military launched its ground offensive in the area on October 6, the influx to Beit Lahia, Beit Hanun, and parts of Jabalia has largely been strangled, which means that between 65,000 and 75,000 people lack access to food, water, electricity, and functioning healthcare.
The new report from the UN's disaster relief organization Ocha also shows that around 5,500 people have recently been forced to leave three schools that have served as temporary shelters.
Furthermore, only four bakeries are still operational in the entire Gaza Strip, all of them in Gaza City, which further exacerbates the food situation.
Sigrid Kaag, the UN's humanitarian coordinator, told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York on Tuesday that civilians trying to survive in Gaza are in a "directly devastating situation", reports AP.
