The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, has so far spent $25 billion, equivalent to SEK 231 billion, on the war in Iran. In comparison, OCHA has asked for $23 billion in aid for the entire year.
"I know what we could do with 25 billion. We have direct comparisons of what we could do with that money," Tom Fletcher told AFP.
The war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have doubled fuel prices and driven up food costs by 20 percent, according to Fletcher.
It makes our job much harder. But it also drives more people to hunger and starvation.
