Maintaining the ceasefire is crucial; it is actually the only way we can save lives, says Abeer Etefa, spokesperson for the UN's World Food Programme WFP in the Middle East, writes AFP.
Since the ceasefire came into force, 530 trucks from WFP have driven into Gaza and more than 6,700 tons of food have been brought in, she says and states that it is enough for "almost half a million people for two weeks".
During the ceasefire, WFP's convoys have not been plundered, according to Abeer Etefa, who states that the programme currently has 26 food distribution sites open in Gaza, compared to five on Friday. The goal is 145.
