The world is staring down the threshold of further war, increased waves of human suffering, and a deeper economic shock. It has gone too far.
Guterres also expressed despair at the developments in Lebanon after his visit:
The situation in Gaza must not be duplicated in Lebanon, he told reporters at UN headquarters in New York.
