UN peacekeeping forces report that Israel has built a wall in the southern part of the country. Israel denies the claim.

The UN force Unifil claimed on Friday that a wall had been built along the so-called Blue Line, which is the UN demarcation line in southern Lebanon - which also serves as the practical border between Lebanon and Israel.

According to Unifil (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon), "a T-shaped concrete wall has been built by the Israeli military southwest of Yaron," and that the wall crosses the Blue Line.

The UN force is calling on Israel to "withdraw" from the areas incorporated by Israel through the construction of the wall.

But Israel denies UN accusations that the wall construction encroaches on drawn border lines.

“The wall is part of a larger (Israeli) plan whose construction began in 2022,” the Israeli military responds, adding:

"It should be emphasized that the wall does not cross the Blue Line."
