The indictment includes 77 criminal charges and concerns acts committed online.

The charges include three attempted murders, incitement to suicide, rape, gross exploitation of children for sexual posing, aggravated child pornography and aggravated animal cruelty, according to a press release from the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

"The defendant is high-profile within 'The Com,' which consists of several loosely connected violence-promoting networks on the internet, including 764," says prosecutor Jenny Östling in a comment.

Members of the group actively look for vulnerable people online to prey on.

"This includes, for example, self-harm groups, suicide groups and forums for mental illness, but also popular gaming platforms such as Roblox," says Östling.

Arrested at school

The 18-year-old has been in custody for over a year, after he was arrested at a school in Umeå last spring, as reported by Västerbottens-Kuriren. He was sentenced in 2024 to youth supervision for grooming and exposing an underage boy to violence and abuse online.

The teenager is one of several suspected of committing acts linked to the 764 sect in Sweden in recent years.

Last year, a 14-year-old boy attacked a woman with a knife in Borås, and in 2024 another 14-year-old stabbed a pensioner in the back in Hässelby, northwest Stockholm. Both filmed their attacks and shared the footage online.

The 18-year-old now being prosecuted is suspected of having orchestrated the boy in Hässelby to carry out knife attacks "in real time."

"He is also suspected of having induced a girl in Australia to, among other things, harm herself, send sexual films and encourage her to take her own life," says Östling.

Man in Germany

The 18-year-old is also suspected of twice causing a man in Germany to harm himself so seriously that he almost died. He is also accused of trying to induce several unknown people in different parts of the world to commit suicide or harm themselves.

The crimes were committed between January 2023 and February 2025. The 18-year-old denies the allegations, his lawyer has said.

The self‑proclaimed internet sect that advocates violence and extreme nihilism was founded by an American teenager in 2020. Known as 764, it was named after the founder's mailing address in his hometown of Stephenville, Texas. The founder is currently serving an 80-year prison sentence for child pornography.

Young boys and men in several countries have, in the name of the movement, groomed, exploited and blackmailed children sexually, carried out several unprovoked knife attacks and at least one murder. At least 50 chat groups are or have been active on Discord and Telegram, and members have hunted victims on everything from Minecraft and Roblox to forums for people with eating disorders and self-harm.

In countries including the United States, Great Britain, Sweden and Germany, designated 764 members have been sentenced to prison for murder, terrorist crimes and sexual abuse of children.

The closely related No Lives Matter (NLM) is an ideological and violence-prone subculture that has been linked to several knife attacks around the world, including in Sweden.

The group advocates extreme nihilism and urges its followers to commit violent crimes to create chaos and destabilize society. Members glorify violence and use social media to spread manifestos and plan attacks, according to Expo.
