Goalkeeper Linus Ullmark recently signed a new four-year contract with Ottawa, but the 31-year-old was not in the squad at all at home against Los Angeles.
Linus was stiff (on Sunday). It doesn't feel right to play him, said Ottawa coach Travis Green before the match, according to the Ottawa Sun.
We want our doctors to examine him more and take the safe option, continued Green.
Forsberg injured?
Instead, Anton Forsberg started against Los Angeles in a match that became a real goal fest. Swede Adrian Kempe gave the away team a 3–1 lead with a goal in numerical superiority at the beginning of the second period.
Forsberg was substituted after that goal. Shortly before, he had been hit by an opponent.
Dane Mads Søgaard, who was called up from the farm team, got to stand between the posts instead. The event ended with a goal fest. After three periods, the score was 7–7, but in the extension, it only took 56 seconds before Josh Norris scored the extra point for Ottawa with his 8–7 goal.
The winning streak over
Utah is the new addition to the NHL and the team started the season with a three-pointer against Chicago (5–2) and then two straight overtime wins against New York Islanders (5–4) and New York Rangers (6–5). Away against New Jersey, the winning streak ended when the home team won 3–0.
It's a holiday in the USA – Columbus Day – and in Monday's third early match, it was a win for Florida away against Boston with 4–3. Adam Boqvist and Gustav Forsling accounted for one assist each for Florida.
