On Saturday evening, Tre Kronor announced that Jacob Markström, recently eliminated from the Stanley Cup with New Jersey, is coming home to play in the World Championship in Stockholm.
Tre Kronor had previously selected NHL reinforcements Samuel Ersson and Arvid Söderblom, so after Markström's arrival, the goalkeeper trio appears to be set. 35-year-old Markström has not represented the national team since 2019, but was part of the team that won the World Championship gold on home ice in 2013.
Earlier on Saturday, Ottawa goalkeeper Linus Ullmark announced that he was being passed over by Blågult.
I was interested, but they have decided not to go with me. It's the decision they (the national team management) have made. It would have been a fantastic opportunity to play for Sweden, at home in Stockholm, says Linus Ullmark at a press conference after the club team's season.
I am disappointed about this situation. I had really wished to get the opportunity for it (to be part of it).
Ullmark was previously part of the Tre Kronor team that played in the NHL's Four Nations tournament in Canada and the USA earlier this year.
