Russia's air defense has shot down several drones that approached the capital Moscow during the night, writes the newspaper The Kyiv Independent with reference to Moscow's mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
In St. Petersburg, Ukrainian drones are believed to be behind the closure of Pulkovo Airport at 5 am local time. Russian airports have been forced to close several times before due to incoming Ukrainian drones.
In the Smolensk region south of St. Petersburg, at least one person has been injured and 14 drones have been shot down, according to the local governor.
In the Belgorod region, closer to Ukraine, one person is reported to have been killed and six injured in a Ukrainian drone attack. There are also reports of injuries from the Voronezh region.
