Ukrainian military personnel are en route to countries in the Middle East to assist in deterring Iranian drones.
"Ukrainian military personnel are expected to arrive in the Persian Gulf in the near future," the source told AFP, but stressed that talks are still ongoing to determine how this will be implemented.
Ukraine has good experience in combating Iranian-style drones that Russia sends daily in large numbers into Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that he is offering Ukraine's best drone expertise to Iran's neighbors - in exchange for those countries' influence over Russia and a ceasefire.
