"We discussed in detail the logic behind further steps and shared our approaches", writes Sybiha on X.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has urged Russia's President Vladimir Putin to participate in the talks, but the Kremlin announced on Wednesday evening a delegation at a significantly lower level, led by adviser Vladimir Medinskyj.

"It is crucial that Russia reciprocates Ukraine's constructive actions. So far, they haven't done that. Moscow must understand that it costs money to reject peace", says Sybiha after the meeting with Rubio.

The US President Donald Trump offered on Wednesday to travel to Turkey if Putin also showed up. Instead, Rubio is expected to participate in the talks.
