Ukraine: 11,000 North Korean soldiers in Kursk

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj says that Russia is using ten times as many drones of the Iranian type Shahed as the country did at this time last year. He also states that the number of North Korean soldiers in the Russian border region of Kursk is increasing.

There are already 11,000 (North Koreans) in the Kursk region, says the president in his evening speech, and adds that he is being informed about the movements.

We see an increase in North Koreans and no increase in our partners' reaction.

The US Department of Defense also reports that more North Koreans are present in Russia. Around 11,000-12,000 are believed to be in Russia, of which "at least 10,000 are currently in the Kursk region", announces the department's spokesperson Pat Ryder.

Earlier on Monday, Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. It was her eighth visit to the city since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Baerbock promises that Ukraine's allies in the West will support the country during the winter.

"Germany stands, together with many others around the world, firmly by Ukraine's side", announces Baerbock.

Zelenskyj says in his evening speech that he thanked Baerbock for Germany's support.

We discussed the current situation in Europe as a whole and in our region, with a focus on how to increase pressure on Russia to get closer to peace.
