The purpose is to move forward with the "strategic agreement regarding critical natural resources", writes Ukraine's Economy Minister and Vice Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko on social media.
The agreement in question means that the USA gets access to Ukrainian rare earth metals in exchange for continued American support in the war against Russia.
The agreement was originally supposed to be signed during President Volodymyr Zelensky's USA visit at the end of February. Instead, the trip ended with a heated argument at the White House, where Zelensky was scolded by President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance before the Ukrainian delegation was thrown out.
