According to Ukraine's newly appointed Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, the ship was hit near the port of Odesa. Several of the crew are said to be from Syria and India.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha says on X that a Ukrainian pilot died in the attack.

The injured have been taken to a hospital in Odesa. A fire has reportedly broken out on board and a search operation led by Ukraine's maritime rescue service and navy is underway.

The Russian Ministry of Defense writes on its Telegram channel that Russia carried out attacks on Ukrainian ships and ports on Sunday.
