Russian drone units have been redirected from the battlefield to protect the shadow fleet after intensified attacks on ships in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Ukraine's commander of unmanned forces, Robert Brovdi, said on social media.
This comes after Ukraine launched an operation on July 6 to destroy the shadow fleet, reports the Kyiv Independent. Up to 200 groups from Rubicon - one of the most effective Russian drone units - have been deployed, according to the newspaper.
In addition, Russia is reported to have deployed personnel and equipment from the 51st Air Defense Division, as well as from an air defence regiment belonging to the Black Sea Fleet.
Ukraine has reportedly scored 172 hits on Russia's shadow fleet in the last 13 days, according to Brovdi.
