Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) says half of Russia's Pantsir air-defense systems have been destroyed, reports The Kyiv Independent.

The systematic destruction of the air defense systems has the strategic goal of making Russia vulnerable to Ukrainian missile and drone attacks deep inside the country, the SBU said in a statement.

"Pantsir is one of Russia's most modern and important air defense systems. The cost of a single system ranges from $15 to $20 million."

In 2025, Russian air defense systems worth about $4 billion were destroyed or rendered harmless, according to the SBU. This allows Ukraine to effectively strike Russian "military bases, warehouses, airfields and other facilities."
